The Orthodox Church of the Holy Ascension is the adornment of the village of Savin. It is located in the very center of the village: in the distant 1902 r. a solid wooden church was built near the Panskiy Park (next to the Soloniny estate).<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span>In the 1st item of the twentieth century. near the temple there was a bell tower, which, according to the Ukrainian architectural tradition, stood separately. But during the II World War, in 1943, it (together with the church dome) was destroyed by an explosion – and since then a beam with bells has been playing the role of a bell tower. Traces of bullets and chips left on ancient bells remind of those terrible times.<\/span><\/p>\n

From 1943 to 2018, the temple stood without a dome, its central part was crowned with a cross. And only in 2018, during the reconstruction, it was returned to its original appearance (with the exception of the bell tower).<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span>The style in which the church was built is diocesan (synodal, “Russian”). It is he who appears in Ukraine at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. (at this time the building was erected) – from the 19th in the resolution of the synod, the construction of temples in national styles was prohibited, a single exemplary project was recommended, which had to be followed and which in each case was approved by the synod.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, despite the strict regulations, the temple built in Savino has its own individual characteristics. The church is three-frame, archaic rectangular, three-lobed (like most of the Ukrainian original wooden temples built before the 19th century): three were divided next to each other, one by one (babinets 5.95 * 7.6 m – nava 11.23×10.8 m – altar) with the largest central part (beam), crowned with a dome with a cross. In the middle of the temple there are 4 columns that support the dome. The roof is of a home type.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span>The windows are arranged in two tiers (the lower one is pentagonal peaked windows, the upper one is small square). Near the roof along the perimeter of the temple is decorated with an ornament on the central wall is the image of the Ascension of Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span>In accordance with tradition, the walls inside the church are not decorated – this is always done to pay maximum attention to the two-level iconostasis.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to fulfilling its direct function, the church, as in most villages of the country at that time, was the concentration of education – after the construction, a parish school was opened under it, in which 2 teachers with secondary education worked.<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
